The Aesera Institute of Gems and Jewellery Designing School with Seshu Gopal Vundavalli at the helm offers
career-oriented courses for aspiring gemologists and designers. The
other attraction is a line of exclusive jewellery.
If diligence is the name of the game, Aesera Jewels is one of
those who plays it best. With drive unlimited, the Founder and Chairman of the
Aesera Jewel Design Academy, Mr. Sadiq Habeeb has crossed several milestones in his five-decade-long commitment to the field of Diamonds, gemmology and Gold Jewellery
And now, he is all
set to offer youngsters a career with job oppurtunities is really a gem of an opportunity!
Starting this month, the Aesera Jewel Design Academy (No. 144/74, Eskay Buildings, 3rd floor, Greams Road, Thousand Lights, Chennai-6), is conducting programmes in jewellery designing, Rhino 3D Jewel CAD, diamond
grading and basic gemmology. "The approach is scientific and systematic,
and our package, comprehensive," says Mr. Seshu Gopal Vundavalli , as he gives details
about the courses. "Each programme spanning 60 sessions is intensive and
based on a regular feedback system from the students and the faculty,
thanks to our faculty experience at the Gemmological Institute of America."
The course on jewellery designing that commenced on 5th May 2012 , for
instance, takes the students through the varied nuances of the art —
right from inspiration to marketing and public relations skills. "And
that's precisely why we are very choosy about the students we admit to
these courses. Being intensive and extensive in nature, we expect a
certain amount of commitment from them. As of now, we limit the number
to 15 for each course."
That Mr. Seshu Gopal Vundavalli dedication has percolated to the faculty and the
students is evident at the on-going session on jewellery designing. As Purno Bhandari , Mumbai-based jewellery designer and consultant, conducts
the classes with seamless energy, the students were seen giving full
vent to their creativity. "Oh, we are sure to make headway at the end of
the 15-day programme," remarked a student. "It's thoroughly
professional, we are enjoying it," observed another.
Well-structured courses on jewellery designing and gemmology for
youngsters is just one of Aesera Jewels dreams ("There is a lacuna in the
field," they asserts).
"We started off by creating one-off pieces with exquisite workmanship.
And gradually, publicity came by way of word-of-mouth," adds the
jeweller, who had spurned the material benefits that came with mass
production. Even today, his plush, uncluttered Manufacturing has a limited,
yet impressive array of precious stone-encrusted jewellery — ranging
from attractive expressions of tradition to sleek, unfussy modern
creations. And Aesera predilection for experimentation is evident in
not just the designs, but also the innovative touches given to minor
details like clasps and screws. "What is important is to give the
customer what he/she wants. We certainly don't want our outlet to look
like a department store with an intimidating display. Here are just a
few pieces, but our forte lies in custom-made jewellery. So,we prefer to
develop a personal rapport with our clients and create something to suit
their tastes." But does exclusive designs mean an exclusive clientele
and price tag? "No", he smiles. "WE have customers from various walks of
life visiting the showroom."
Aesera Jewels dexterity with design is further reflected in the way they
throws up interesting suggestions to convert traditional jewellery into
appealing modern creations. "WE don't believe in melting gold. Ornaments
can be re-worked with a dash of creativity. Jewellery is for keeps," they
says pointing out to an old chain transformed into a beautiful bracelet.
